Saving Your Smile This Halloween

As the Halloween season reaches its peak, make sure you’re taking the time to keep your teeth and gums in optimum condition. If you’re not careful, oral ailments, accidents, and injuries can set in, such as cavities, tooth decay and other forms of oral mishaps.

Always remember to make sure you’re not eating substances that can easily damage your smile, including hard candies or sticky and chewy candies that linger on your teeth and gums long after consumption. If you bite too hard into hard candies, you can end up chipping or cracking your teeth. If sticky residue remains on your teeth and is not eliminated, the rate of tooth decay increases.

To better protect your smile, implement effective oral health care procedures such as brushing and flossing, as well as visit your dentist for routine checkups and professional cleanings.

Launch a plan on what to do with your candy, including which candies to avoid, and what to do with candy after Halloween. Sift through your candy or your loved one’s candy to make sure there are no hazardous products that are extremely hazardous to your oral health. Furthermore, you can reward your child with cash, gifts, or toys in exchange for their candy, so they can still have a wonderful experience collecting the candy without the oral health hazards that come with eating it. Lastly, dispose of all candy after Halloween so you’re not continuously eating it and contributing to tooth decay.
